TPC Course 1

I.  How much time as a coach do you allot to the following 3 Rally Phases in your practice/training sessions – solo or group?

  1. (0-4) Beginning Phase
  2. (5-8) Patterns of Play
  3. (+9) Extended Rallies (includes warm-up time)

II.  Observing/Teaching/Adjusting Technique in Context of purposed PLAY

  1. Swing Path – what are the 3 major parts?
  2. Movement
    1. Reset Movement – better known as “recovery” but why you shouldn’t call it that 🙂
    2. Decision (Split-1st) Step Movement – can you name 4 major 1st steps?
    3. Loading Stances (situational) – can you name 4 major loading steps?
    4. Exploding Steps (situational) – can you name 4 exploding steps (there are at least 10+ we will review)

III.  Trifecta Coordination vs. Hand-Eye Coordination – what is a trifecta?

  1. Determining the most effective way towards better Anticipation
    1. Eyes – Scan, Track, Focus
    2. Feet – Agility (Balance+Quickness), Speed, Power, Strength
    3. Hands – Grips, Speed, Groundstrokes, Volley

IV.  TPC Challenges/Games – simulating match play pressure & style of play

  1.  Training in the manner in which a player is expected to perform
    1. realistic pressure challenges
      1. First Strike  Games
      2. POP  Games (15,30,40,Game) – timed 5,10,15 minutes
        1. FST/POP/ER
    2. rest periods
      1. 90 sec change-overs
      2. 3 min. rest between matches
